Welcome to
Long Island Premiere Swim School
We believe that the ability to swim is not just a sport—it is a life-saving skill that belongs to everyone. Based in Brentwood, NY, our mission is to foster a safer, more confident Long Island community by providing high-quality, inclusive aquatic education for all ages and abilities.
Our Founder: Coach Ray Willie
At the heart of LIPSC is our owner and director, Ray Willie, whose life has been defined by a deep-seated passion for the water. A lifelong Long Islander, Ray’s journey in swimming began as a powerhouse competitive athlete:
- Elite Competitor: Ray was a 14-time All-American at the University at Buffalo, where he was twice named MVP and inducted into the Athlete Hall of Fame in 2004.
- Jones Beach Lifeguard: His commitment to water safety is literal—Ray serves as a lifeguard for the Jones Beach Lifeguard Corps, standing watch over our local shores.
- Decades of Coaching: With over 30 years of coaching experience, Ray has guided swimmers from their first bubbles to national-level qualifiers. He was honored as the 2010 Metropolitan Swimming ASCA Coach of the Year.
A Safer Long Island for Everyone
Ray’s ultimate goal is to eliminate barriers to water safety. He firmly believes that “everyone should learn to swim,” regardless of their background or financial situation. To make this a reality, LIPSC offers:
- Accessible Programs: We provide low-cost discounted lessons for families in need through partnerships with organizations like Step Into Swim.
- Inclusive Excellence: We are the proud home of the Long Island Stingrays, a dedicated Special Olympics team. We specialize in working with children and adults of all abilities, ensuring that the joy of swimming is accessible to the entire community.
